Getting to Know You.....or Rather Me
My last day of high school I was told "you are going to get eaten alive out there". With a look of terror on my face I thought, great. I grew up in a beautiful city (use the term city loosely) in Montana. Had I ever left the state? Yes, only to visit relatives in California with the parentals. Was I sheltered? I would venture to say yes, I didn't even know what a marijuana leaf looked like until I accidentally had the tropical looking leaf tanned into my skin my junior year of high school....fail. I have always believed that life is an adventure that you live and learn from, so after high school I went to another "city" in Montana to begin my first year of college.
College was ok, but it wasn't what I was looking for, that I still wasn't exactly sure. So I had the chance to move to New York City. Yes, that is right, my first actual move was to one of the largest cities; terrifying, right? My parents have always been supportive, and as long as I was paying for it they wouldn't say no. So I packed up my suitcase, got on a plane for the first time in my life (that would be a whole other story) and made my way to the big apple.
I always loved hair, makeup and fashion but living in Montana those were all foreign terms; so I decided to find a job in a salon. I hit the pavement and found my way to a beautiful salon on 57th street between Park and Lexington. Walking through the doors I handed the front desk my resume which contained working at a paper mill over the summer as my only work experience. I was told to come back the next day, and the rest is history.
From there I knew I wanted to immerse myself in the hair industry. I made my way to California then to the state of Washington and finally found myself in Las Vegas (where I currently reside). I work at what is considered the top salon on the strip and have the opportunity everyday to learn and grow in more ways than one. That being said I feel the need to clarify that statement; Las Vegas is a melting pot of cultures from all over the world, so I have the opportunity to learn about different lifestyles in terms of fashion, hair, makeup, food and everyday living and I would love to share everything I learn with you.
I am a product junkie to the extreme, and love giving my honest opinion. My goal for this blog is to inform each other of trends, products and just helpful tips and tricks. With that being said, let the adventure begin!
