Today I thought I would share a little tip that I learned at the salon in NYC. A lot of our clients back east had darker hair and features (myself included) that being said, hair is a tad more visible on the body. "I love my dark hairy werewolf arms" said no girl ever! So, since it's that time again for me to tame the beasts I thought I would bring you along! We are bleaching!!! Yes, that's right, bleaching. This service would cost $50 plus but you can do it yourself at home two times for around $6. So what do you need?
There are a few different brands that you can use. I pick mine up at Sally Beauty Supply, here is the link http://www.sallybeauty.com/invisi-bleach/SBS-455022,default,pd.html
Inside the box you will find everything you need. I use one of my hair color mixing bowls, but any bowl will work and I squeeze half of each bottle into the bowl and stir until mixed together thoroughly.
Then I apply half of the mixture allover my arm creating a thin, yet visible white layer.
Now the fun begins.....the 15 minute wait. If you have sensitive skin always do a patch test first to check for skin irritation. Every now and then the clock seems to tick more slowly, especially when your skin is itchy and angry with you! I usually watch tv or listen to music to distract from the drama my arms are creating!! Beauty is pain girls, beauty is pain.....literally. Once the time is up gently wipe away the bleach to reveal platinum blond arm hairs!
After bleaching you may notice that the skin appears lighter, this will go away within the day. It may cause dryness as well, using lotion (preferably unscented) will solve the problem.
So why choose bleaching over waxing? Bleaching the arm hairs make them 100 times less visible while keeping your arms still smooth. There are no awkward growth stages and you can bleach them anytime you feel necessary. I typically bleach mine every 3-4 months. Waxing or shaving the arm hairs can cause the unwanted razor burn, ingrown hairs and that awkward prickly pear feeling when they're growing back. Who wants to rub up against sand paper? No thank you! I hope you all enjoy this tip for the day! Please feel free to comment below with any questions, thoughts, or suggestions. Until next time lets keep the werewolves at bay!!
